As a Reds fan, I can't think of a time I have been so excited to win two games. Even if the crowd was a sea full of empty red chairs for both games at Great American Ballpark, this team has somewhat redeemed itself after a paltry series in St. Louis. There's a long way to go to redeem this team's early play and extended woes, but folks, this is a great start!
Coming off the recent road trip, I honestly thought this may be the worst team in MLB history we were witnessing. I sat and pondered if anything could get any worse. "When are we going to see another win?" It felt like walking through a relentless, scorching, never-ending desert without any water left in my canteen. Has it really been that hard to be pessimistic about this team? The front office and poor (or basically non-existent) offense has made it relatively easy.
To my surprise, the offense has suddenly poked its head out from its extended slumber, and rattled off 19 runs in two games against the Atlanta Braves. I'm watching guys like Alex Blandino go 2-4 with a BB, and Scooter Gennett going from zero home-runs to 2 home-runs on the year with a power outburst and game winning dinger. What?
Let's work on getting a winning streak going, right? Maybe some equally long winning streaks comparable to the losing streaks to start the season? Wouldn't that be nice? I'm knocking on wood, and I'll shut up now before I jinx it.
